Training Camp North Georgia, 2007

Training Camp, Tiger Georgia  April, 2007

At the Outer Banks OFBITS ride in the fall of ’06, I had the chance to meet several new team supporters. One of these supporters is Jeff Muir. During the week of rides, Jeff mentioned that he had a vacation house in the North Georgia Mountains and that we were welcome to hold our training camp there if we wanted in the spring.

Needless to say, an offer like that never gets too far from my thoughts when planning this season’s schedule. In the spring I called Jeff to check and make sure the offer was still good. After checking with his wife Doris we were all set.

After getting everyone there in the new team van, we found Charlie Mountain and the Muir’s house. All anyone on the team could say was “Wow!” When we got there, Jeff and Doris had a steak dinner waiting for us and then we got the tour of one of the most incredible homes I have ever seen. I could not have constructed a house or location that would have been better for a training camp then there.

We had a six-day training camp on the same roads they use for the mountains in the Tour of Georgia. We did Brass Town Bald Mountain on the third day and the guys opted to do it again on day five. The guys rode a lot of hours and did a lot of team building. We had a team bowling competition, which I was the high scorer again for the second year, and a white water rafting trip down the river from Deliverance! Needless to say, they all went in the drink in the 50-degree water and all had a great time.

The strength and character of a team begins with the quality hours before the season ever begins. We have that in the bank now. It’s going to be a great year.
